We’re excited to introduce our brand new Jazz Funk class at the Motion Arts Center! This all levels class blends the precision of jazz with the bold, high-energy moves of hip-hop. If you love the choreography in music videos, you’ll feel right at home learning fast-paced combos, intricate movements, and expressive gestures.
This style of jazz was shown in its early form on the sketch comedy series In Living Color. The resident dance troupe, the Fly Girls, of which Jennifer Lopez was a member, opened and closed every show with a hip-hop and jazz performance choreographed by Rosie Perez. This style of dance remains popular today, and has been used in music videos by Beyoncé, Paula Abdul, Gwen Stefani, and Janet Jackson.
What to expect: A fun, welcoming environment where you’ll push your boundaries, improve your technique, and let your personality shine.
Come ready to sweat, have fun, and show off your personality—this class is all about bringing your unique style to the dance floor!
Jazz Funk mixes the technique of jazz and hip-hop, creating a style that’s all about attitude and energy. With fast-paced, sharp gestures and intricate movements, this class will have you mastering dynamic combos from choreographies in music videos that will push your limits, and let your personality shine through each movement. Step in, and prepare to move with confidence and flair!
